The Kickapoo is a small, swift running, clean strean in SW Wisconsin. It flows through the driftless area and Wildcat Mountain State Park. It's perhaps one of the most scenic rivers in the State with high sandstone cliffs capped with native cedar and hemlock. Drawback, the Kickapoo is a recessed bank type of river. The camping areas are best around bends and require "chaining" up your gear and my cooking equipment. That is difficult but I want to be honest with you. Once up on the bank the sites are remote and beautiful. Just be prepared to do some work. I bring a portable enviromental toilet. Meals- lots of good food. Tents available.
