It is located at the intersection of three flyways: the Pacific, Central, and Mississippi. Hundreds of thousands of ducks, geese, gulls, eagles and other birds use this area for moulting, staging, migrating, and nesting. You may have the opportunity to see Wood Bison which were reintroduced to this area in 1984, where they have thrived on the abundant grasses. The Hay River flows through this wetland, with low grassy banks or flooded banks, depending on water levels. We offer canoe and kayak rentals along with a transportation service to this unique area.

Gwinn to Boney Falls is 30 miles. The river flows on the Precambrian shield, with rugged outcroppings of rock, sheer cliffs, towering hardwood forests, and pine plains. It can be a moderately swift flowing river especially early in the spring run-off and slows down as the summer progresses. Wildlife such as whitetail deer, eagles, sandhill cranes, beaver, foxes, ducks, and black bear abound is this area. Excellent fishing opportunities. We offer guided and non-guided with drop off and pick up trips in canoes or kayaks. Group sizes up to 20 individuals or more. Group rates for Scouts and Church groups. This is a great trip to get close to nature and experience the outdoors. All ages and all paddling skill levels.

A smaller river with steeper gradient, the section of the Ammonoosuc we run sports a turny, gravely, rock strewn character with steady current and several small sections of class I/II rifts. The scenery is fantastic. There are open fields with classic New England farms, rock cliffs, and two historical covered bridges. One of these bridges is the nations oldest and the other is the longest. If fishing is your thing you will enjoy this trip. Brook, brown, and rainbow trout are the main species encountered.
