Patagonia (Argentina)
Adventure Sherpas Logo

Departs: Sep, Oct,

Cost: $5295

Length: 14days/13nights

Kayaking - PatagoniaArgentina's Golfo San Jose is the remote, protected bay where the Southern Right whales come every September -- their springtime -- to bear their young. It's a protected area without motor boats, and the paddling is easy because it's all shore paddling. On the pebble beach, 18-foot-long elephant seals roar as they battle over harems, and furry black seal pups sunbathe. This is the wildlife refuge of Peninsula Valdes, in Chubut, Argentina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The huge mammals are easy to see. We can get within 20 feet of the elephant seals, and the sea lions are curious and play near our kayaks, popping up to take a close look at us. We camp along the beach and fall asleep to the sound of the whales blowing.

Cost: $2495

Length: 7 days

Kayaking - Paddle Iceland's WestfjordsLocated near the arctic circle on the Greenland Sea, Hornstrandir Nature Preserve is one of the wildest places left on Iceland. This is the most rugged part of Iceland, well beyond the reaches of the ring road and nested below the Drangajkull icecap; it is home to arctic fox and huge cliff faces dotted with fulmars, guillemots, kittiwakes, puffins and razerbills. If we are very lucky, we may even see one of the few remaining pairs of White Tailed Sea Eagles on the planet. The sea is by far the best place to view these cliffs along with a variety of seal and whale species. Our days will be spent paddling by a variety of smaller fiords, abandoned whaling colonies and huge fields of summer wildflowers...all in the wake of Erik the Red.
