Cost: $3,165 US

Length: 13 days

Muskox graze the shore and tens of thousands of caribou migrate across the river. Peregrine falcons, golden eagles and gyrfalcons grace the sky. The river is alive with lake trout, arctic grayling and arctic char. The midnight sun entices us to explore the hinterland long into the endless evening. Finally the Hood plunges in unmatched splendor over Wilberforce Falls to the canyon below, more than twice the height of Niagara. Below the canyon we paddle more rapids until we reach the Arctic sea. Here our charter aircraft finds us and flies the long trip back across the tundra to Yellowknife. Our other trips above the tree line on the Coppermine and Horton Rivers are utterly remote but only a handful of paddlers will ever see the distant Hood River.
