Our Philosophy:
Have fun and be safe. Good boaters have more fun than poor boaters. Good boaters are safer boaters than poor boaters. Teaching the skills necessary for you to become a good boater is what our program is all about. Our goal is for everyone to have an adventure and a learning experience every day and come into camp safe and sound each afternoon.
Our Primary River:
Our favorite schooling runs are on the middle section of the wild and scenic Klamath River. The Klamath is one of the finest rivers in California for beginning and intermediate canoers because it possesses that rare combination of good rapids and warm water. Most canoe clinics are conducted somewhere between Ash Creek (ten miles from Yreka) and Clear Creek (eight miles southwest of Happy Camp). That's 77 miles of easily accessible water from which we select the sections appropriate for you.
Our Canoe School Rates:
We teach both solo and tandem clinics. Fees are $190 per canoe per day (note that we charge per canoe, not per person). We also do Scout and Youth Clinics for $160 per canoe per day. All clinic prices include canoe, paddle, life vest, and instruction. All of our canoes are royalex whitewater boats with glued-in knee pads and extra floatation.
Canoe West will transport canoes and gear, but paddlers must arrange for their own transportation.
Our Booking/Cancellation Policies:
A 25% deposit is required to confirm your reservation. Final payment is due thirty days prior to your trip. If we receive written notice within 60 days of your trip, you will receive a full refund, less a $50.00 booking fee.
