ACA - Quick Start Your Kayak
The purpose of this course is to make available a short program emphasizing safety, enjoyment and skill acquisition for entry level paddlers. You have to start somewhere. This course introduces you to how to get started in kayaking. It tries to answer all those questions that come when you are new at something. How do I put my kayak on the car? How do I get in and out of my boat? What should I take with me? Take this class and learn!
ACA - Coastal Kayak: Basic Strokes and Rescues
This class is designed for beginners. The emphasis is to provide basic knowledge about the sport of Coastal Kayaking (Sea Kayaking). There is a brief on-shore talk about safety issues, boat fit, parts of the paddle and boat, and basic components of the strokes. The balance of the course is held on the water where each student is coached through the proper technique for wet exit and strokes. Most importantly this class is held in a protected area so that wind and wave action do not interfere with learning good paddling skills.
ACA - Coastal Kayak: Strokes and Maneuvers Refinement
This class is designed for coastal kayakers of all skill levels. There is a quick review and a warm up paddle to assess everyone's skill level. Then emphasis is on proper execution of basic strokes and incorporating the J-lean. We then focus on incorporating a series of basic strokes and leans into the execution of one smooth maneuver.
ACA - Rolling
Class starts with warm up and stretching. Then a review of the bow rescue and wet exits. Followed by J-Leans and High Braces moves that contain important components of the roll. The student will be introduced and coached through the Extended Paddle Roll, C to C and the Sweep Roll.
