Shank's Mare Outfitters, located on the banks of the scenic Susquehanna River, offers a full instruction and demo program for touring kayaking. Our class offerings include the basic "Introduction to Touring Kayaking" class taught on sit-on-top kayaks for a great "try it see if you like it" experience.
Our full day "Touring Kayak Class" taught in cockpit kayaks features instruction on strokes, braces, maneuvers and draws, wet exits, self-rescues and group rescues.
All our classes offer a small instructor to student ratio, and we provide all the necessary equipment. And all of our kayaking and paddling lessons are done on the Susquehanna River!
