Founded by Mike Aronoff, an ACA Instructor Trainer Educator in Canoe, River Kayak, and Sea Kayak (a BCU Coach too), and operated by paddling-obsessed, experienced, friendly, certified staff. We are the first and a current ACA Pro School. Mike is also Professor Kayak at George Mason Univ. and teaches for U of MD and other quality organizations.
We are very active in ACA Instructor Certification courses, as well as Skill Development clinics, private instruction, and trips with instruction for all types of Kayak and Canoe. All our Instructors and Trip Leaders are ACA certified and Wilderness First Aid/CPR current.
Convenient from D.C., Dulles or BWI airports, our location is 20 minutes from both whitewater and flatwater sections of the Potomac. We're often in the Great Falls, MD area for river trips, as well as Arlington/Alexandria and Lorton, VA for scenic Kayak tours with or without instruction.
Other venues within 3 hours of home are numerous: in Virginia, W.Va., Pennsylvania, and Maryland such as the N. Branch, Shenandoah, Rappahannock, James etc. We do an annual 6-day River trip on the MF Salmon in Idaho where Mike is a registered guide. We also take Sea Kayak excursions to Tybee Island, GA. We provide all equipment including rafts, camping gear, plus food.
For open-water Sea kayaking, we are often out of the Annapolis area. This year we also were in NC, SC, NJ, GA and FL. In Georgia, we team up with our friends Sea Kayak GA and/or Savannah Canoe and Kayak.
Our 19 years of proven methods in getting that first roll in a kayak and Canoe, or in gaining special precision boat control, are what make all of our sessions worth advance registration.
All gear is provided for guided trips and/or instruction, including specialized functions for clubs and business. We can provide excellent, convenient, lodging for overnight programs.
