Description:

We launched at fisherman's park in Bastrop, Texas and paddled and fished down river about 6 miles to the take out point at riverside drive near the golf course. The river was flowing around 1200CFS and we had a good southeasterly breeze. The river was relatively low, slow, and clear compared to the high/fast/muddy water of June. The water was clear enough to see large rocks and fish on the bottom. I caught several Guadalupe bass and watched dozens of various fish swimming along under my kayak. We saw egrets, great herons, and a suprise osprey that seemed to be circling above us as we floated down river. The trip was much better than I had ever hoped for considering that we are in the "dog days" of summer.
