Small, easily accessed bayou with unique juxtaposition of pine trees, then marsh, then Lake Pontchatrain. Takes about an hour to get to the lake. Nice marsh ponds if you take a cut to the right about 2/3 way down. Coming out into Lake Pontchatrain is rather dramatic. Lots of fish. Saw 2 eagle nests, assorted herons and other birds and one 5' alligator.

From Baton Rouge-east on I-12 to Abita Springs/Fountainebleau State Park exit. South to Hwy 190. Left about 2-3miles to Bayou Cane on eastern edge of park.

Launches:

Excellent spot to park and put in.
