Sherburne Wildlife Management Area - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip

Report Type: Day Trip Report
Trip Dates: Oct. 2003
Nearest City: Baton Rouge, LA
Difficulty: Easy
Submitted by: cyriaque

Description:

Paddled up Bayou Manuel for a couple of hours. Saw a few motorboats with hunters coming out to the boat landing. All were friendly and careful not to hit me with a big wake. They looked at my little Pelican Fusion with curiosity. Relaxing paddle. Pretty trees along the bayou and lots of birds. I've seen alligators up to 13' there in the past, but none this trip.

Accommodations:

There is a steep concrete boat launch into the bayou. Nothing else is around. IF YOU GO DURING HUNTING SEASON, WEAR ORANGE!

Fees:

Hunting license or WMA permit.
