The main attraction of this site is the alligators. We always see several in the 4-6' range. There is supposed to be a large one that hangs around but we've never seen him. There are always birds around mostly waders. There are usually some fishermen. Depending upon the wind it can be very flat or choppy. You can paddler up the river and under the highway 90 bridge near Spanish Fort.
We were resting on the river and my wife said, "I can relax now that there aren't any gators" I then pointed out several heads near where the water gets deeper. We haven't explored more than a few miles of the river near the park.
