Georgian Bay - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip

Georgian Bay Sea Kayaking
The northern and eastern shorelines of the Georgian Bay of Lake Huron create a great paddling destination. The thousands of weathered rock islands of the Georgian Bay create an incredible landscape that also provides for sheltered paddling. The wild blueberries, great campsites and a wonderful group of people created a spectacular trip.

Brian Van Drie, co-founder of Paddling.net, and his wife Kara joined guides Karen and Carolanne along with seven other participants in this five-day trip. With one tandem kayak paddled by Jane and Nicole (mother and daughter) and Bob, Mike, Martin, Dave and Jon in single sea kayaks, we had quite a fleet of boats.

We started at Britt, a town on the Byng Inlet on Georgian Bay and paddled North to the mouth of the French River then up the river to our pickup point over the course of five days. The landscape consisted of thousands of rock islands covered with scrub brush and pines. The weather was nearly perfect and the water was warm, creating a great setting for an incredible trip.
