The Ipswich River has several put in areas but this location will allow a person to have a few challenges on their trip. It is a combination of still water areas and quick current and in 3 location some mild rapid condition under bridges. At some points the river narrows down where you will need to pull yourself along the banks. There is some overhanging greenery that gives you the sense of being in the jungle. Depending on the river height you may have to portage over fallen trees. Wildlife can be seen on the river: Deer, Blue Heron, Muskrats, Mink, Turtles, Geese, and several types of songbirds. In all, following this river gives you the feel of being out in the wilderness but yet at times a passing car on the roadway hidden by brush reminds you that you are in civilization.
