Description:

French Creek is a day trip from Mill Village to Meadville, PA. The launch is at the intersection of route 6N and route 6 / route 19. There is an outfitter at the intersection to rent canoes and kayaks. The water levels can change in just a few days depending on the amount of rain. If the creek is low you will have to portage a good bit until you reach Cambridge Springs. Cambridge Springs is a great little historic town with some terrific bed and breakfast places. The creek deepens and the paddling gets easier. French Creek is one of the most biologically diverse streams in America. There are terrific plants and flowers with large sloping green hills as a backdrop. The creek also passes thru Saegertown before reaching Meadville. There are numerous camps and sites along the entire route.

Accommodations:

The creek follows route 6 / route 19 the entire way to Meadville. There are gas stations, convenience stores, and restaurants in the small towns within sight of the creek.

Directions:

From Erie, PA take 79 south to Edinboro and Take 6N east until you reach route 6 / route 19

Launches:

Intersection of route 6N and route 6 / route 19. Take-out is great just south of Saegertown or for a longer trip anywhere in Meadville.
