Description:

We put in at the public access near the White Hole resort and exited at the public access in Cotter, AR. The trip length was about 10 miles and took about 4 hours with some paddling.

The river flow was rather slow with the Bull Shoals Dam only using 1 generator. You can find the schedule here:
http://www.swpa.gov/generationschedules.aspx

Along with the slow speed came some shallow areas that cause some choke points, rock or tree stump protrusions, and if you don't do it right, you may end up having to push your boat.

During this season, the water is too cold for comfort to swim or even wade in. Fishing was great although I did not catch a single fish. This river is known for trout but I am a Bass kind of guy. Spoons, spinners and other jigs proved unsuccessful. Altogether, the float was relaxing with a slight chill in the shadows of hills and trees.

Accommodations:

there are porta-johns at both ends.

Fees:

none; other than fishing licenses and trout stamps
