Cherry Lake - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Day Trip Report
June 15, 2013
Me and my girlfriend decided to do a day trip around Cherry Lake. Views were awesome and there were some awesome places to stop and take a break. It is the largest lake in the Stanislaus National Forest, so good news no dispersed camping permit like in Yosemite trips.
We started a little late, but it ended up being a great trip. Winds start up around 11:00-12:00ish and they are an inconvenience at time but it is actually a day trip but if you're not ready for all that paddling then make sure to bring your camping gear or at least a couple good blankets and you can camp as close to the water as you'd like.
There is a boat ramp, vaulted toilets and I saw a pay phone there but did not check on it...
no fees that I saw, other then a campfire permit for dispersed camping
from Sonora - head out towards Toulomne city then follow the signs. It should take you about 1-1.5 hours to get there from Sonora. You can also get to it from 120 but I am not familiar with that route; check the forest service website for details
just a forest service map
