Day Trip Report
June 6, 2013
Island Pond, VT

Was a great weather day for a paddle. We put in just below the airport. The paddle was good. The water was average height for this area. It took about 3 hours to paddle.
We pulled out at the first culvert. This area is a large bog/swamp with limited views due the banks and all the vegetation.
We did see a Moose right before we pulled out. This area has most Moose sighting in the Vermont state. I think a early morning drive or late evening would be a great time to see one. Be Careful they are BIG.
All in all a great day.
State Campground and Private in the Area.
We camped at Brighton State Park. This is a great place to camp. Clean/Clean all over. Paddling on the pond right next to your site. The Loons are there also.
Only Camping site Fees. The cabins are your best bet. Bring along the electric coffee pot and a small portable heater/fan and who's better than you.
From Island Pond, VT head south on RTE 105. Put in about 1/2 mile south of the airport on your right.
Takeout is about 4 miles south where the road crosses a culvert; steep bank.
