Description:

19 bridge to Cox Landing

We put in around 11 am, the day was sunny and warm, the current was moving along at a good clip due to recent rains and the creek being high.

I took my 13 year old son on his maiden voyage in a canoe, he was a bit spooky at first but soon got the hang of things, the scenery was great, has been nearly 20 years since I was on this stretch of water, I let my son fish and just had to paddle enough to keep him close to what I thought were good for fishing, lol, not a bite!

The creek is not very wide on this part and when the first power boat passed us he was a bit scared but the boat slowed to almost no wake and we had no trouble at all. We passed several more but all the others slowed to a crawl.

We made the trip in about 4 hours, we were in no hurry, we explored each and every slough we came across, the sun got hot and sunscreen had to be used. It was a nice enjoyable trip I hope to make several more trips in the Albany area in the near future I will post each trip.

Accommodations:

many motels in Albany; plenty of places to eat

Fees:

none

Directions:

Go north in Albany to Kinchfoonee Creek Bridge, there is a small ramp on the right side of the bridge, not very good but ok for canoes and small boats.

Downstream, the first public landing is Cox Landing on Phelima Rd. (Hwy 91) - it is a nice landing
