A 2-hour low-tide paddle up Bohicket Creek. Creek is not the right word, it is more like a small river with a deep channel. Put in at Johns Island Kayaks with a local guide and paddled up into the salt marsh at low tide for a fantastic view of birds feeding on the muddy banks. Shrimps were jumping everywhere, red drum were feeding, a lot of birds.
Our guide knew all the local information, very interesting. Two 350 pound bottle nose dolphin were feeding in the side-creek as we came back towards the creek channel so we waited for them to take their turn feeding and return to the channel before we tried to return to the channel. Not a lot of room in those marsh creeks and those are big animals! But no problems! Fun to watch and be so close when they were feeding. We exited the marsh and watched the dolphin feeding for quite a while, very close to our boats.
Were were in the water about 2 hours. Had a great time. Easy paddle, great guide, fantastic wild life. nice family trip, would be fine with kids over about 6 or 7 years old. Suggest you go on low tide even if it does not suit your schedule, you will see a lot more up in the marsh. Not too much to see in the marsh at high tide...
