The recent rains resulted in very high water levels at the put in and all the way to the Bay. The mouth of the Estuary was completely closed off from the ocean, which also helped explain the high water level. Tides were of zero influence for this paddle.
Until the mouth is open again, which could change at any time, tides are of no influence. Otherwise, you'll want at least 3 ft to make it from the put-in to the bay. Winds can be very strong, so keep an eye on the weather as this paddle can become quite difficult if they pick up too much.
Winter paddling here was peaceful and quite. Not much in the way of wild life tho and the Pelicans we saw in April were nowhere to be found. Bring your lunch on this one and eat at the beach before making the 6 mile trip back. Then go have dinner at Dinucci's in Valley Ford. But, get there at 5pm, that place fills up quickly.
Parking is on a spit of road near the overpass. There is enough room for about 7-10 cars here.
