Bogue Chiitto River - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Day Trip Report
November 17-18, 2012
We started out by putting in off of Boat Ramp Road. We had a local tubing center give us a ride up river to the launch for about 30 bucks which is better than taking two vehicles and take the chance of having one stolen or towed. From the launch we continued down river about 10 miles.
We only drug a couple times and probably could've avoided doing so by taking other lines. The river was lined with many trees and stumps from past flooding. They did make for some nice currents but we did also have to keep and eye out all the time. The water was crystal clear and fish could be seen all down the river. White sand bars and gravel beaches lined the river except for a few longer straight aways that seemed to have almost no current and were a lot deeper.
We ended up camping on a sandbar and got to see over a hundred ducks and woke to the sound of wood ducks the next morning. We then continued our trip for another 15 miles to the take-out point by the Choctaw Road Bridge.
Beautiful white sand and river smoothed gravel, with carp jumping in the river at night and ducks awakening you in the morning. Millions of stars overhead and crickets chirping away
