Bow Lake - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Day Trip Report
August 23, 2012
Bow Lake is a pristine lake that offers a peaceful day during the week for paddlers. The boat launch is about a 2 minute hike from the parking area at the Grange Hall. It was peaceful with only a couple of motor boats on it midday.
The best part of the outing was the sighting of an adult loon and a half grown immature. I had the benefit of hearing the loon cries up close and the adult loon surfaced within 20 feet of me while I sat there without moving.
There are some little islands and some nice sandy bottoms in shallow areas that are a great place to enjoy a lunch and spend some time swimming. I have been out there twice and both times I have met some nice fellow paddlers.
Parking at Grange Hall at the intersection of Province Rd. and Water St. Paved boat launch ramp on Water St. within a 2 minute walk from ramp.
Access via route 202A. 4 miles from route 4 in Northwood. At the intersection of routes 202, 9,43, and 4 take route 202/9 then turn left onto route 202A and follow until you get to an intersection and bear left at stop sign and the grange hall will be at the next intersection for parking.
