Description:
I intended to put in at the new launching area about 1/2 a mile from the Lake, but the water was over Lake Road and I didn't want to get my car stranded if it continued to rise, so I put in at the launch under the bridge by Eleanor Drive.
The first part of my trip was down a man-made canal with camps on both sides. Once I got into Bayou Lacombe, there was marsh on both sides. There was some wind, but little current. I admired the pink and white flowers blooming in the marsh. There were a few small tributaries I could have explored, but I was anxious to get to the Lake and see how the boat felt in the chop.
Once I reached the Lake, I turned west and paddled along the shore about 3/4 mile. The shore is a mix of grass beds and small beaches.
My round trip was about 7 miles.
