South Pond - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Submitted by: stevie178
South Pond in Stark, NH was the destination of choice for me and it was one I was glad I made. The day was warm and with a mild breeze but light on the insects.
The pond has a large main body that has ample access for kayaks/canoes to load & unload as well as a smaller more occupied side (camps) that is worth the time to paddle around.
Loons and other migratory waterfowl are there for all to enjoy as well as some of the other larger North American species (Moose, Deer, Bear, bobcat and so on) so I would really recommend this for the individual and especially the family.
While not the largest body of water by no means it has just enough for everyone and both sides of the pond can be completed in under a half a day but all the extras make South Pond worth the trip.
I gave this pond a difficulty rating of moderate only due the fact that on a windy day you are going to have to exert yourself a little more but nothing too excruciating. Fishing is allowed and by all means don't forget the camera!
On duty park ranger, clean paved parking lot, public restrooms, swimming area, BBQ pits, fire pits
