Pettigrew Lake / Meadowood Park - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Upper Falls, WV
Submitted by: CoalRiver
Meadowood Park features Pettigrew Lake, which is a small, calm lake that's perfect for beginners who want to learn how to kayak.
Access is easy, as is put-in and take-out. The park is conveniently located in the Charleston Metropolitan Area.
Parking and restrooms are available.
There's a pretty cool dock that extends into the lake and provides a great place for an instructor to stand. Meadowood also features soccer fields, volleyball, picnic shelters, children's play structures, fishing and boating on Coal River.
The park is home to the Upper Falls Landing on the Walhonde Water Trail, a natural landing on Coal River that supports watercraft portage around Upper Falls Dam and Upper Falls Lock. Upper Falls Point provides a spectacular view of the Upper Falls.
The Upper Falls Walking Trail is here, one of a series of autonomous trails that comprise the Walhonde Walking Trail system.
Admission is free.
