Description:

Connecticut River - Salmon Cove up to Salmon River

This is a great paddle. We put in on the CT river and caught the tide 2 hours after it was turning to go in to high tide. We took the tide up the river, saw quite a few kayakers battling the incoming tide in the river and cove, it really starts moving and I suggest always to watch the charts for this trip to be a nice fun one!

We made our way all the way up to the fish ladder and pulled out and had lunch and then back down the river with the outgoing tide.

It is a great trip; it's very pretty. You smell tons of cedar from the surrounding forests. You also will go by the old Sunrise Resort, it's a shame to see it in shambles. The state supposedly owns this now but has done nothing with it.

I saw a Great Heron, Egrets, Swans, Canadian Geese with goslings and Osprey. biggest thing is learn the tide before planning the trip!
