Conasauga River - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Day Trip Report
Put it on Weber Rd, there is a small bridge where you can walk a trail down to the water. The water is pretty slow moving and mostly muddy looking. The scenery is nice and peaceful, there are a few downed trees than can get tricky however there is nothing too bad if you just pay attention. There are lots of low hanging limbs that are crawling with spiders so I try to avoid those.
It's about a 4 hour float to the HWY 2 launch area so if you're looking for a short paddle this would be your exit. We chose to keep floating down to Norton Bridge Rd in Chatsworth.
All together, around a 9 hour trip. I feel the section past Hwy 2 is much more relaxing; there is not quite as much debris and the river has a nice calm flow about the entire way. You will cross under a couple of abandoned bridges that will leave your mind wondering what might have been back in the day.
All in all it's a enjoyable float and worth doing if you're in this part of the woods.
Hwy 2 there is a parking lot and kayak/canoe launch area behind the general store.
Free parking at Weber Rd; Free parking at hwy 2; also free parking at Norton Bridge Rd.
