Wildcat Creek - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip

Report Type: Day Trip Report
Trip Dates: March 17, 2012
Nearest City: Lafayette, IN
Submitted by: Zach Rodimel

Description:

Mis-So-La access point on Wildcat Creek to Davis Ferry access point on the Wabash River

Great ride. Water level was perfect for some nice riffs but not too shallow that you bottom out. Had to portage once about a mile before the Wildcat feeds into the Wabash due to a log jam.

Mis-So-La to Wildcat Park is a much better ride than the rest of it, the creek widens and there are very few riffles beyond the park.

Overall a great float.
Temperature was ~79. Wabash stretch was calm and stagnant. Saw bald eagles, blue heron, geese, mallard ducks, kingfishers, squirrels, bluejays, cardinals, and a few small fish. Guage Height: 3.52 ft Discharge: 401 cfs
