Just wanted to add a more recent report for Haw Creek, everything in the earlier report is still accurate.

We paddled the creek west from the ramp in July '11 and returned last weekend for the east side. In July we found most of the paddle was through duckweed and a few obstacles but nothing that required getting out of the boats. If you like a pristine setting away from the crowds this is as close to heaven as we have found in north Florida.

Returning for the paddle east of the ramp was another treat. We arrived to see the waterway free of duckweed and the level about a foot higher than the previous trip. We paddled on a very windy day and most of the wildlife was laying low but there were plenty of birds and some fish rolling on the surface.

Many spots along this route to get out of the boat as the creek winds and twists towards County Road 305. A few private docks, no obstructions and with the exception of traffic noise around the 305 bridge a very quiet trip. This may be a better choice for people with longer boats than the west side of the ramp. I have no idea why so few people paddle this waterway, so much here.

We post our photos and GPS trail on Everytrail, too many pictures to post here. Hope you enjoy them and we highly recommend this area for the folks out there looking for a little solitude and some 'old Florida' scenery.

The Preserve has ample parking, shelter, tables, clean restrooms and concrete ramp. There is also a trail from the ramp area with several waterside decked overlooks.
