La Jolla Cove - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
La Jolla, CA

Ocean preserve - Kelp beds and a variety of sea life.
The location is a calm bay with diversity of the best entry of La Jolla Shores on the south side of La Jolla Shores Hotel; simply drive onto the beach and unload; parking can be problematic.
Launch through light surf (compared to the rest of the area), then LOOK DOWN. When the water is clear you'll see tiger sharks and other aquatic creatures. Off to the left are the caves - care must be taken; 1 to 2 ft swells can create a dangerous situation if you don't pay attention. If the swells are small one of the caves can be navigated. The area remained calm throughout the day and provide a very enjoyable paddle.
The area is a resort community. At the boat ramp is the La Jolla Shores Hotel. We stayed at La Jolla Village at La Jolla Cove. Depending on your desire for night life other activities you can find it here. San Diego is a few minutes away.
The Scripps Institute's Birch Aquarium and Sea World are nearby and show you up close what you just paddled over.
4 Kayaking rental agencies that give tours.
I did not consult any of them... to limiting.
No fees to launch.
Parking on streets is limited 90 minutes to 2 hours; the parking next to park is free and unlimited.
Heading south on 5 – take exit 28 – turning right on to La Jolla Village Dr. Left on to Torrey Pines Rd.
Heading north on 5 or if on 52 – take 52 to Torrey Pines Rd. then Right on Calle De La Plaza. And finally left on Camino Del Oro to the beach.
Google maps or any mapping program will get you there.
I use AAA and their trip books.
