Bantam Lake - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip

Report Type: Day Trip Report
Trip Dates: September 24, 2011
Nearest City: Morris, CT
Difficulty: Easy

Description:

The marsh area is a great paddle slow and very calm. This area is a bird preserve so sightings are common. When in the marshes, it's very difficult to pull to shore; use the facilities before going out.

We go there often and have found the lake to be very windy and choppy most of the time. Inner pond is good - able to get out of the boats there and stretch or take a swim for the adventures ones.

Evenings are great to go. We saw 11 beaver on one trip. They are not shy by any means. Fishing has been very good on every trip. Swans, herring, ducks, fish and beaver are common sight. Golfballs too when enjoying the waterway by the course.

There are numerous places to put in. If the parking area is full go a bit farther take a right; this is a good area in the pines to park.

Accommodations:

"Poppies" on the corner of Rt202 is a great place to grab a burger or dog. Ice cream is really good to.

Fees:

No fees
