Duchesne River - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip

Report Type: Destination Report
Nearest City: Tabiona, UT

Description:

DeLorme's Utah Atlas & Gazetteer show a river trip from the confluence of the North and West Forks of the Duchesne River to the confluence of the Duchesne River and Rock Creek that is suitable for canoes, kayaks and rafts at beginner level.

Skip it.

What they don’t tell you is that there is no take-out access at the Duchesne/Rock Creek confluence, unless you know someone. It's all private property and fenced in. There are "No Trespassing" signs all along the road, many of them using the word "absolutely" a lot. (The put-in looks fantastic, and I considered putting in and running a little of the river out of bloody mindedness. I don't mind paddling upstream for a bit. But logic prevailed over emotion.)

The two counter ladies at the general store and one of the local Law Enforcement Officers said that no one floats the river.

This trip is a bust.
