There are plenty of nice little coves on the way. We passed Henricus Park, an early settlement that dates back to 1611. There are many docks assembled along the route that have fishing setups for you to stop on the way if you like to drop an occasional pole in the water. The fish were jumping like mad here by the way. It's full of bass both large and small, catfish, blue and channel and many more species as well.
It took me and my pal about 4 hours to make the whole trip. We saw a lot of Blue Herron, geese, ducks and tons of turtles, frogs and we even stopped to eat wild blueberries.
This is a great trip to do in a day or even if you want to camp for a night you could easily do so on the banks where there were many docks we'd seen. The paddle is easy, but there are a lot of boats on the water so be careful of the occasional boater in peak summer days. Other than that, it's a trip for the whole family to enjoy!
