Chestatee River - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Day Trip Report

This is my second report on this trip. A few years have past so an update is warranted. I took a first time paddler with me for a fun, easy paddle and he had a great time.
The water was up a little on the Chestatee after a few afternoon thunder storms the days prior to our visit. Appalachian Outfitters have upgraded their facilities. Bigger parking lot, better steps down to the river and best of all a new take out spot.
A fun two hours (a little more depending on stops, breaks, or just playing in the water). It does not cost much. Get out and enjoy. This IS NOT an ad for Appalachian Outfitters, just a suggestion for safe and wet fun. I am going back for a third time when the leaves turn this fall.
No permits. Fees are very reasonable. Only $10.00 for shuttle if you have your own boat, rentals if you don't.
GA 400 North. At it's dead end go left on GA 60 for two or three miles and Appalachian Outfitters are on the left. If you end up in Dahlonega you missed it - turn around. Visit Dahlonega AFTER your trip down the river.
Appalachian Outfitters, give them a call 1-800-426-7117
