Cheaha Creek - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip

Report Type: Day Trip Report
Trip Dates: July 25, 2010
Nearest City: Talladega, AL
Difficulty: Easy
Submitted by: Bob Eaton

Description:

The water is crystal clear and cold like fresh spring water. There are a few rapids, nothing that would keep the family from going; several stopping spots for picnics, swimming, or fishing.

The depth ranges from inches to about ten feet at the deepest part of this float. Be prepared to walk some at the beginning. It is not used very much, so the float is usually very peaceful.

Accommodations:

RV park/ resort with cabins and primitive camping accommodations. Fees are extremely cheap for over night lodging. They will shuttle you for hardly nothing, I actually let them drive my truck back to their place and lock it up. Small game room perfect for children under 10 and child-like grown-ups.

Fees:

Only for rental services, shuttles, or game room videos.
$5.00 tubes, $20.00 kayaks, $30.00 canoes

Directions:

Take exit 173 off of Interstate 20, go back toward the track take Co. Rd. 005 about 5 miles turn left on Lake Whitland Rd. to Talladega Creekside Resort.
