There are homes that dot one side of the lake, and a lot of recreational boating occurs as such.
It is very popular for water-skiing/boarding and there is frequently a lot of motorized traffic, so kayakers should be aware, and take the usual precautions. There wakes kicked up by these boats can make for a little wave-like excitement, especially close to the banks, but some may be bothered by it.
The best time to get out is early (like most lakes). At 5am or so in the summer, it is cool and slightly misty, and the calm waters are beautiful. You can hear a lot of bird calls.
As the day heats up though, it's more of a recreational paddle, with very little in the way of wildlife or vegetation. The lake itself is a little dynamically shaped, with little coves to explore.
Fishing seems to be pretty commonplace both from shore and from boats, usually in the more enclosed, shrubbed areas.
