Pine Creek - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Day Trip Report
March 13, 2010
I have paddled all of Pine Creek at different times of the year. The best time to paddle Pine Creek is March and April. It is colder outside, but the creek is high enough that you will not hit bottom. It is not so bad in early May if we had a wet/snowy winter. Between June and September you might as well put holes in the bottom of your kayak or canoe and do the Flintstones, its that bad. (I weigh 250 lbs and have an 11 ft kayak)
The scenery is very beautiful and there are plenty of eagles; also great for fishing. On this particular day we did a run from Blackwell to (Clark's Run) Cammal.
There is plenty of bed and breakfasts. I would reserve during summer months especially on holiday weekends.
PA requires a boat license if you are utilizing the Fish and Boat Commission docks and now I hear that you need a license for Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources docks, also.
Put in before or after and they can't fine you.
State Route 414... put in at the bridge, can't miss it.
