Lake Quinsigamond / Flint Pond - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Report Type: Day Trip Report
Trip Dates: August 8, 2009
Nearest City: Shrewsbury, MA
Difficulty: Easy
Submitted by: fbsmith3
Description:
We used the Route 20 Boat ramp, got my kayak and supplies right to the water and then parked. Not having to lug 50+ pounds is always a plus.
My 4 year old son sat on my lap as I paddled. We ran into very few motor boats and 1 jet ski and everyone was polite and responsible.
The water is relatively clear and not much silt. We saw a lot of waterfowl; ducks, Swans and a Great Blue Heron. Several small islands of which we stopped at one and did a little exploring.
Beautiful houses along the shore and we did run into several kayakers along the way. a 2 hour trip flew by very quickly. I'll be back.
Accommodations:
No sanitary facilities; there are several restaurants and grocery stores within a 1 mile radius.
Outfitting:
Kayak: 2002 Pungo 12'2", besides a few scratches she is perfect.
