Lake Frederick - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Front Royal, VA
That 120-acre Lake Frederick is a man made lake is nearly incomprehensible when you experience the intricacy of its inlets and see the lushness of the surrounding forest area. The lake is pristine, and Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries means to keep it that way.
VDGIF stocks the lake with trout, bass, crappie, and other types of fish. Only electric-power boats are permitted, which means only small motor boars are there to interact with kayaks and canoes.
Lake Frederick is accessible from the main gate at the Shenandoah Active Adult Community, an upscale retirement community halfway between Winchester and Front Royal. The Visitor Center can provide information about the surrounding community, including restaurants and overnight accommodations.
