Description:
My wife and I decided to take a trip to Paint Creek and explore Paint Creek branch of the two rivers. We were surprised at the width of the creek, a lot wider than expected. You share space with quite a few fishermen, but as mentioned, plenty of room to pass by.
The scenery was great, rock cliffs with vegetation, overhanging cliffs, and rock formations along the shore. A great deal of waterfowl, Blue Heron and hawks along the way.
We paddled about 3 miles up the creek before we had to turn around due to time. The creek was still wide and deep, when we turned around, there was a good size pontoon boat with a group fishing just ahead.
We look forward to returning and trying the Rattlesnake Creek.
Directions:
We put in at the Taylor Road boat ramp. One of the cleanest ramps we've seen. No moss on the ramp, no fuel/oil floating in the water, not slippery at all. You do have boat traffic coming in and out.
