Seven Lakes State Park - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Day Trip Report
Located in the Seven Lakes State Park, there are six lakes, only 2 have boat launches, the others are accessible by portaging. My wife, our two children and I put the canoe in at Dickinson Lake, This is a clear secluded little lake that offers a couple of hours of easy paddling. We had the lake all to ourselves, except one fisherman, fishing off a fishing pier. On this day the lake was smooth as glass, as it is surrounded by trees and no houses. Paddling along the shoreline near the boat launch it is shallow and sandy, continuing around the lake you can view an assortment of birds and an occasional deer getting a drink. As you paddle into the little bays you can see into the clear water as fish swim away. The lakes in the park make this a relaxing afternoon in the canoe. Since a campground is also located in the park it makes it that much more convenient. For an easy paddle and a relaxing environment this little lake is hard to beat.
Small modern state campground, with showers and electric hookup, sandy beach.
State motor vehicle permit required.
