Uwharrie River - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip

Report Type: Day Trip Report
Trip Dates: June 1, 2009
Nearest City: Troy, NC
Difficulty: Moderate
Submitted by: mikeylikesit View Profile

Description:

For anyone wanting to do this trip you must have had enough rain to make sure the water levels are up.

Put-in at Low water bridge off of Hwy. 109 and leave another vehicle at bridge on Hwy 109. This trip takes about four hours.

This is a fun trip if the water is right. If not, you will be getting out a lot and pulling over rocks. A few good rapids along the way and some real pretty scenery along the way...

Fees:

None

Directions:

Hwy 24/27 to Troy then Hwy 109 to Uwharrie River

Resources:

If you can get your hands on the book, "Paddling Eastern North Carolina" by Paul Ferguson, it will give you lots of info on this and other trips.
