We launched our kayaks at the Marsh Branch boat ramp. This ramp is located just a short drive west of London on highway 192. It is an excellent ramp with ample parking and rest room facilities.
The water was emerald green and very clear, as we began our journey south down Marsh Branch. Along the way we passed the White Oak boat-in camp ground. Keeping the shore line to our left we turned north up Cane Branch and entered the Canadian Goose Management Area. This section of the lake is clearly marked by red bouys and is off limits to power boats.
Cane Branch is beautiful with a pebble covered shore line, as well as huge boulders jutting out into the lake. The mountain laurel was in bloom and with the hemlocks for a background, you could not ask for a more pristine and peaceful place.
We spent the afternoon exploring and after a late lunch on the bank of the lake, we sadly began our journey back.
