Cameron Lake - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Waterton, AB, Canada

Cameron Lake is a beautiful little gem at the end of the Cameron Lake Road in Waterton Lakes National Park. It's nestled in the very farthest southwest corner of Alberta. The southern end of the lake is actually in the U.S.
The lake is crystal clear and the southern end is surrounded by mountains. The northern end opens out to the valley which leads back to Waterton townsite. It's a four mile paddle if you do the perimeter of the lake which is subject to sudden wind changes, so be prepared.
Canoes and kayaks are available to rent near the parking area. A dock is available to assist in launching. It is a day trip destination since there are no camping facilities or other overnight accommodations at the lake. However, there is a picnic area. A lovely place to spend a day.
Prince of Wales is a world famous hotel with a stunning view of the length of Waterton Lake from a high bluff on the north end of the lake. The townsite has several good inns and lodges. Kilmory Lodge is an excellent choice.
Daily park fee or National Park Pass required.
After entering Waterton Lakes National Park, proceed past the turn-off for Red Rock Canyon, and past the Prince of Wales Hotel. Just before entering Waterton townsite the road to Cameron Lake is on the right. It's a beautiful drive in, with opportunity for hiking at several places along the way.
Park maps are available at the entry.
