Wallaceburg is situated in the Lake St Clair Basin, with good fishing and wildlife in what is a huge wetlands area. Over 60 miles of water ways based upon the Sydenham River between Dresden and Mitchells Bay on Lake St Clair. A three seasons area with good family paddling.

Great fishing for Big and Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Musky, and Perch. 80 species of fish in the system and over 30 varieties of freshwater mussels, some of them very rare.

The area is recognized as being one of the most significant staging areas for waterfowl in southern Ontario, with over 150,000 birds during fall migration.

The Town provides maps online in PDF format for 9 trips, from 9 miles to 26 miles.


A hotel and motel in Wallaceburg at reasonable rates, good Camping at Mitchell's Bay.

Dresden is the home of Uncle Toms Cabin, the Canadian home of Josiah Henson, the slave upon whom Harriet Beecher Stowe based her famous novel of the same name. The Cabin and interpretive area is open to the public.

Wallaburg museum has the Lee Rifle Prototype, the pre-cursor to the original "Enfield rifle" which was invented in Wallaceburg in the 1870's




Situated on highway 40 about 45 minutes south of Sarnia, Ontario and about 90 minutes from Windsor. Take the ferry from Michigan at the closest point and arrive from Detroit in an hour.
