Returned to Lowell Lake after 2 years and was at ease that it was still nice and beautiful as ever.
Put in at around 9 am and paddled around the lake. Saw a good size snapping turtle sunny itself along the bank side. There were some coyotes howling in the distance hills on the eastern side of the lake and that made me feel like I was out in the true outdoors. The fish in this lake are mostly bass and sunfish from what I saw.
I did, after a long paddle, go ashore on the eastern side and take a nice refreshing swim and that is what makes some of my trips worth while is to enjoy both the beauty of the sights and the cool clean water.
Hope this place stays the same for ever for all to enjoy.
I would like to thank a young lady I met from CT ("Tracey"), who was hiking with her dog, for sharing some moments of her time and telling me about another lake to paddle on in Vermont.
There is a porta potti maintained by the state. There is a boat launch and a parking area with enough parking for about 20 cars. No Camping that I know of at this lake.
If coming from southern New England take 1-91 North to Exit 2 Brattleboro. Take Rte 30 North to West Townshend Take Rte 121 North to Rte 11 North (Left hand turn) Lowell Lake is about 2 miles down on your right Follow road bear to the right at intersection Lake is up about 1/4 mile.
