Lake Comus - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Day Trip Report

This was an afternoon paddling jaunt - mainly to try out my new kayak and initiate myself into being a full fledged paddler and kayak owner. Being that I am a beginner to kayaking (intermediate canoe experience), I wanted to get out on some smooth water on a relatively nice and sunny but slightly breezy day.
Lake Comus is a man made reservoir due to a dam on the Turtle Creek near Delavan, WI. There is a small parking lot near the arboretum entrance and cement boat launch for non-motorized boats only. It is a shallow lake of about 120 acres and is perfect for trying out new paddling equipment, taking the kids for a leisurely trip in the canoe or just floating out and throwing a line in the water for some panfish.
Very nice day for a trip in the new kayak (Pelican 100). Both my husband and sister also took the kayak for a spin up and down the shoreline and everyone was very happy with how the kayak handled. Hope to find a nice area closer to home where I can find similar water conditions that are "beginner kayaker friendly".
Small cement boat launch for non-motorized boats only.
Parking in public park lot.
