Located at the southern tip of the lake in Oroville (a small town) the State Park has the usual amenities (shower, gravel parking, grassy tent sites) plus a nice swimming beach and large shade trees. It's pretty hot in August (90' +) so reserve a spot with shade (#54 thru #74). We camped in #62 on the shore of the Okanogan River which flows from the lake.
We launched our kayaks from our campsite - the Lake itself is not too interesting but the shallow Okanogan River here has great wetlands on the banks with eagles, heron, turtles, ducks, geese, fish. We had fun paddling downriver partly thru town.
The river is so slow that it feels about the same going upstream as it does downstream. The park is crowded - but once on the river you get some nice moments of quiet nature.
Great hometown Pizza restaurant in Oroville!
