Description:

Skiatook Lake is a manmade lake, however, it's surrounded by Sandstone bluffs, Blackjack and Post Oak trees and prairie grass. It's absolutely beautiful to paddle into the smaller coves and see the wildlife, such as beaver, pelican, heron and other wildlife. It's so peaceful and quiet. No matter the time of year, however, in winter there is no camping on the lake. Sunset on the Lake is just breathtaking. There is 160 miles of shore to paddle around and the depth of the lake is up to 120 feet.

Accommodations:

Each park has different facilities. my favorite is Osage park has primitive facilities. Tall Chief has modern and primitive facilities, showers, I believe in RV Hookups as well as tent spots.

Fees:

There is a Camp fee, I believe it to be $10. There is a boat launch fee, however, since I don't use the boat launch and just go out from the shore, I do not pay that fee. Rangers have agreed with us.

Directions:

From Interstate 75 to Highway 20 (approximately 25 miles north of Tulsa) go west on Highway 20 through the town of Skiatook. Then follow the signs to the particular park you wish to visit. I personally suggest Osage park, however, if you wish to camp Tall Chief would be a better choice.
